      FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
Financial Aid Meeting for Seniors and Parents was January 9, 2008.
Forms are available outside Mrs. Stangel's office.

The TOPS Application is the FAFSA, or the one page form found on the TOPS website.
Please note that it is suggested that you fill out the FAFSA as opposed to the online application via the TOPS website.  If the TOPS program funding is ever cut, those who fill out the one page form will be the first to lose the award.  There is no indication that this may happen, but we suggest that you fill out the FAFSA at least once to see if you qualify for federal aid.

CSS PROFILE Vs. the FAFSA  (Free Application for Student Financial Aid)

Note:  As of October 1, you can begin to fill out the CSS Financial Aid/Profile.  This is an ONLINE APPLICATION ONLY.   This is NOT the same as the FAFSA that cannot be filled out until January 2008.  The CSS Financial Aid Profile is REQUIRED for approximately 600 colleges and universities.  Please check with the school to determine whether the CSS is required.  You can also look on the website (link provided above).  The CSS Profile is not free; however, there are situations where a waiver can be obtained.  Please see the CSS website, your counselor or Mrs. Stangel for information.

www.fafsa.ed.gov   Discover Your Opportunities! Welcome to FAFSA on the Web, US Department of Education. FAFSA opens the door to the federal aid process. Electronically submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  THESE FORMS CANNOT BE FILLED OUT UNTIL AFTER JANUARY 1 OF THE YEAR IN WHICH THE STUDENT INTENDS TO ATTEND SCHOOL.
