Eligibilty:  U.S. citizen, LA resident for at least one year prior to July 1st of the scholarship award year; have submitted the FAFSA by July 1, 2005; and no criminal convictions other than misdemeanor traffic violations; are enrolled as a full time undergraduate or graduate student in a LA public college or university majoring in forestry, wildlife or marine science, as it pertians to wildlife and fisheries, with intent on obtaining a degree in one of those fields; have graduated from an accredited H.S. with at least a 2.50 or have earned more than 24 graded college credit hours with a 2.50 gpa as an undergraduate and a 3.0 as a graduate student.

Submit two tear sheets (the entire page on which the article or graphic appears) for each entry (including two copies of each of three columns in the personal columns category).
When entering a photograph that was printed as part of a series, indicate which photo is to be considered.

USA Funds "Access to Education Scholarships"

Requirements:
U.S. citizen; 2004 family adjusted gross income of $35,000 or less; not in default of any student loan; must be used for a full or part time curriculum before February 1, 2006; and only used for tuition, books, fees, or other education related expense.  50% of the awards go to low income or minortiy students.  See the website and get the application here

Free Enterprise Sholarship - Essay Contest
Sponsored by the Republican Women's Club of Jefferson Parish
Friday, April 1, 2005 - essay must be given to Miss Bogan

You must be a resident of Jefferson Parish.
The top five essays will be submitted.  You cannot be one of the five if you do not at least TRY!!
The theme is "Free Enterprise"  and the essay must be 800-1000 typed words, double spaced on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.  Pages must be numbered.  No handwritten entries will be accepted. 
A title page must accompany each entry.  The title page must bear the name of the student, home address, and telephone number and the name of the school you attend.
The topics are:
1.  Starting a small business.
2.  Marketing on the Internet
3.  Government Regulations on Industry (a specific industry)
4.  The Gaming Industry:  Louisiana vs. Mississippi
You may choose your own topic as well.  These are suggestions; however, the topic must fall within the broad theme.

The application requires (1) a personal statement that provides information about their African American background, community involvement, career goals, and desire to contribute to their community.  Information about unique personal or financial circumstances may be added. (2) A completed McDonald's/FMHC African American Future Achievers application, signed by the student and parent/guardian; (3) official school transcript; and (4) a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official.
