December Scholarships and Due Dates

Attention Students: Please pay attention to due dates that fall around holidays.
You must submit requests for information and letters of recommendation early.

Elks National Foundation Emergency Educational Fund Grants	July 1 - December 1 of every year	Up to $4,000	The Emergency Educational Grant program provides financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks, who wish to obtain or further their college education. SAE Engineering Scholarships	December 1, 2007 POSTMARK DEADLINE Note: Applications accepted from September 1, 2007 to December 1, 2007.	$400 to full tuition 8 different programs	Undesignated Scholarships that can be used at any school ($1,000 - $10,000) University Sponsored Scholarships ($400 to full tuition) You must apply to a school with an accredited engineering program before January 15, 2006, or you will be disqualified. Boston University Trustee Scholars Program	December 1, 2007 Please see Miss Bogan for details as early as possible (minimum of two weeks). This application has many parts and requires school nomination.	full tuition and mandatory fees at Boston Universtiy as well as an invitation to participate in specialized programs	Click here for information. Trustee scholars are typically in the top 1 percent of their high school classes, many with a perfect 4/00 on a 4.00 scale. The average SAT I is 1490 and average ACT is 33. All trustee scholars demonstrate, in one way or another, the ability and desire to serve and to lead. Online applications are encouraged.
Catholic University of America Washington, D.C.	December 1, 2007** These are nomination based scholarships. We may nominate as many students for each scholarship, but letters and forms are required, so please act early. Please see Miss Bogan if you are interested in Catholic. You may be nominated for both scholarships, but only one award will be made.	$5,000-$10,000	Excellence Award ($10,000) 1300 SAT or 28 ACT 3.5 G.P.A., top 20% rank, and application for Early Decision by 12/1/05 Leadership/Service Scholarsip ($5,000) leadership contributions to school/community 1200 SAT or 26 ACT 3.4 G.P.A. December 1, 2005 for Early Decision OR February 15, 2006 for Regular Decision Parish Scholarships ($1,000) must be a parishoner from a Catholic church in the U.S. or Puerto Rico and planning on attending Catholic UA in the fall of 2006. Northwestern State University Natchitoches, LA	December 1, 2007	varies	General Scholarship Application Deadline - requires that you have filled out an applicaiton for admission, a scholarship applicaiton, along with the application fee, a six semester transcript, a copy of ACT or SAT scores and optional letter of recommendation. Louisiana Tech University Ruston, LA	December 1, 1007	varies	General Scholarship Priority Deadline 12/31/05 is the latest. Click here for the admissions web page. You do not need a separate application for scholarships. IMPORTANT: New this year! The scholarship money is given out on a rolling basis. Therefore, the earlier you apply the better your chances of getting more money. Apply early!

Education is Freedom	Application period November 15, 2007 through January 31, 2008	$2,000 per year Renewable for three additional years.	Click here for information and how to apply. Eligibilty: U.S. resident for one year at the time of application, current H.S. senior, GPA of 3.0 to 3.5 (4.0 scale) & 1st time enrollment in a full time undergraduate course of study at a 2 or 4 year college or university. Selection Criteria: Financial need, activities & leadership, work history & candidate appraisal.
National Academy of Television Arts John Cannon Memorial Scholarship	Mid-December deadline this will be updated as soon as the website has information for the 2007-2008 contest. Note: this is a postmark deadline.	$40,000	Click here for information and to apply. The John Cannon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional student who intends to major in television, telecommunications,or a similar communications-related field at afour year college or university.The Scholarship will be distributed over a four-year period with $10,000awarded prior to the first year ofstudy,and three additional awards of$10,000 granted in subsequent years. To be eligible for the continuing awards, the recipient must demonstrate satisfactory progress towards a degree and remain in a communications-oriented program.The scholarship award may be used for tuition, books, living expenses, and other related costs
Washington & Lee New Orleans Area/Jones Family Honor Scholarship Part of the Johnson Scholarshp Program	December 15, 2007	Full tuition renewable for all four years with a 3.0 g.p.a.	The selection process is highly competitive and rquires that you must have submitted your completed application for admission and the supplementary Johnson Scholarship Application by December 15. AXA Foundation Achievement Scholarship	December 15, 2007	$10,000-$25,000	Students who apply should be well-rounded, determined to do their personal best and have demonstrated achievement - at a job, sport or extracurricular activity. Click here for more information. Click here for the application.
Tulane University New Orleans, LA	December 15, 2007	full tuition, fees, room & board (up to 8 semesters and 10 for architecture)	Dean's Honor's Scholarship (the "box" application) This is merit based and highly competitive. Tulane University New Orleans, LA	December 15, 2007	full tuition, fees, room & board and $800 stipend renewable for eight semesters if you maintain a 3.0 G.P.A.	Louisiana Scholars Award Like the Dean's Honor Scholarship, this is a merit based scholarship and requires a separate form. Huntington College Montgomery, AL	December 15, 2007	$3,000-full tuition	Check out the school's website and scholarship page for listings of all of their scholarships. You must also fill out the FAFSA by March 1, 2006.

All-Ink Scholarship	December 31, 2007 Winners announced February 20, 2008.	varies - up to $5,000	Click here for information and to apply. Students who apply must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.5 GPA. You will have to complete a 50 to 200 word essay about who has had the greatest impact on your life, and a 50 to 200 word essay on what you hope to achieve in your personal and professional life after completing college. You can complete your application on-line.
Help Santa Find the Perfect Real Christmas Tree Scholarship	*Website will be updated in the fall of 2007- check back for more details. December 31, 2007 11:59 p.m. E.S.T.	$5,000 to $10,000 (4 awards) or a trip to Orlando, FL	Click here for more information. Different age groups - please check the website. You will have to write an essay about your Christmas tree. Please remember to include the real meaning of Christmas in your essay.
Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service	None given	Grants fund the typical costs for tution, books, room & board while attending an approved university. Participants also receive stipends of up to $8,000.00	Click here for more information The program has been designed to increase and strengthen cadre of federal information assurance professionals that protect the government's critical information infrastructure.
The Fulgham/Fulghum National Foundation Scholarship	Deadline is April 15, 2008 to submit your application; HOWEVER, you must have requested an application between September 1 and December 31, 2007 as referenced on the December due date.	$500 one award is made	Click here for more information and how to apply. The FFFNF scholarship program is open to any high school senior planning on earning a degree in teaching. The instructions are detailed on the website.
