National Peace Essay Contest	February 1, 2008	$1,000 to $10,000	Click here for more information. The National Peace Essay Contest is open to all students in grades 9–12 attending high schools in the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Territories, and American citizens attending schools overseas. First-place state winners receive college scholarships of $1,000 and also compete for national awards of $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 for first, second, and third place respectively (national awards include state award amounts). All first-place state winners are invited to attend an awards program in Washington, D.C. in June.

Shell Minority Scholarship Program	February 15, 2008	up to 20 $2,500 awards possible to renew for up to $5,000 after freshman year	Must enroll full time and major in geology, geophysics, physics, or any one of the following engineering fields: chemical, civil, electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum at one of the participating schools. Please see Mrs. Stangel for a list and if you are interested. Applications are generally mailed to school in late December. Letters of recommendation are required, so start on the application early.
Best Buy Scholarship	Submit online between January 1 and February 15, 2008	$1,500 to $10,000	Rewards Students with good grades who give back to their communities. Click here for the application and more information.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Programs	February 15, 2008 NOTE: In addition to the application, this scholarship requires a transcript and letter of recommendation. The RMHC National Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible graduating high school seniors who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. Students are selected and awards are distributed based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need and community involvement. Additional selection criteria may be specified by the respective participating local RMHC Chapter based on strategic goals and community needs. There are four (4) separate scholarship programs. For each individual scholarship program the following are also required: RMHC/ASIA -applicant must have at least one parent of Asian/Pacific-Islander heritage; RMHC/African American Future Achievers - applicant must have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage; RMHC/HACER - applicant must have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage; RMHC Scholars - ALL students may apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

University of Mississippi Chancellor's Leadership Class	Interested students to give names to Mrs. Stangel by February 22, 2008	up to $1,000	This is more than a monetary award - you could become a member of a group that has the opportunity to learn the operation of a universtiy from the top downward and to spend part of your free time carrying out assignments from teh Chancellor's Office. Louisiana Bankers Association Freshman Scholarship If one of your parents (or you) are employed by a Louisiana Bank read on...	February 28, 2008	$1,000	Rules One of the student's parents must be employed by a bank located in Louisiana or the student must be employed by a bank located in Louisiana. A 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average. 6 or 7 semester transcript A copy of ACT scores (minimum score of 20) Students must be enrolling in a Louisiana college or university as a full-time student with a major in the college of business.
