The National Peace Essay Contest is open to all students in grades 9–12 attending high schools in the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Territories, and American citizens attending schools overseas. First-place state winners receive college scholarships of $1,000 and also compete for national awards of $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 for first, second, and third place respectively (national awards include state award amounts). All first-place state winners are invited to attend an awards program in Washington, D.C. in June. |
