This program is seeking students with superior potential for providing exceptional contributions to the University as students and to the world at large as alumni of the University.  In granting the awards the Foundation will have regard for the ideals of excellence exhibited by Thomas Jefferson as as follows:  1) leadership ability; 2) scholarship ability; and 3) superior citizenship.

Hunt Leadership Scholars Program

This requires you to apply to the university, but if you apply for early action it is non-binding. 
The Hunt Leadership Scholars Program is designed to help develop future leaders for our communities and country and to help students prepare for social responsibility. 
If you are not selected for the Hunt Program, you will be considered for all other merit scholarships offered by the university.  If you are interested in need based scholarships, be sure to fill out the FAFSA early in 2007.

This is a nomination scholarship and only one student will be chosen.  By this date you must:
 (1) express interest to Miss Bogan by turning in a resume that includes your service activities completed application with a letter of recommendation from your employer to Miss Bogan no later than this date.
$10,000 to $20,000 over four years
criteria:
Outstanding Academic record,
effective leader,
well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting. 
Academic performance is a prime factor in the selection process; however, please note that the distinguishing characteristic will be the overall impact of the student's contribution(s) in the area of community service.


Burger King Scholarship

This is a nomination scholarship and only one student will be chosen.  You must submit a completed application with a letter of recommendation from your employer to Miss Bogan no later than this date.
$1,000
This scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from your employer and you must be able to demonstrate need and that you must work part-time.  Click here for the website.
Other criteria:  2.5 g.p.a. on a 4.0 scale; work part time on an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, good conduct and attitude in school and on the job; participation in community service and/or co-curricular activities; financial need; recommendations that are on the application form (you only need to obtain the employer recommendation because the school recommendation will be completed once the student is selected.; and you must plan to enroll in accredited school in the fall of 2008. 
Ron Brown Scholars Program
November 15, 2007

It is importatnt to try to meet this deadline.  You will also be considered for other scholarships sponsored by companies that work with the Ron Brown Program.  If you wait until January 9th, you are only considered for the Ron Brown Program.
$10,000 per year for 4 years
African American students who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential and make an impact on their communities through service to others.  Click here for more information and you can download the application.  If you fill out the application on or before November 15 you will be eligible for other scholarships for African American students.  The final deadline for the Ron Brown Scholars program is in January.

Up to four students from Mount Carmel Academy may be nominated for this award.  You should have outstanding academic achievement, extraordinary personal qualities, and you must have made contributions to your class, school, and community.  Please see Miss Bogan if you are interested.
If you do not feel that you fit this criteria, please do consider applyig for other  need-based financial aid at Emory University.    You must fill out the CSS PROFILE and the FAFSA (you cannot fill out the FAFSA until 1/1/08).  See Emory's admissions website for more information.
