Elks National Foundation Emergency Educational Fund Grants	July 1 - December 1	Up to $4,000	The Emergency Educational Grant program provides financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks, who wish to obtain or further their college education. Click here for information
Jefferson Scholars Program University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia	November 1, 2007 ** This is a nomination scholarship and requires significant preparation; therefore, if you are interested in UVA, notify Miss Bogan as soon as possible.	full tuition, room, board, fees and miscellaneous expenses, renewable up to 8 semesters	This program is seeking students with superior potential for providing exceptional contributions to the University as students and to the world at large as alumni of the University. In granting the awards the Foundation will have regard for the ideals of excellence exhibited by Thomas Jefferson as as follows: 1) leadership ability; 2) scholarship ability; and 3) superior citizenship.
Southern Methodist University Hunt Leadership Scholars Program	November 1, 2007 (early priority) up to January 15, 2006	nearly full tuition at SMU (the difference between SMU and LSU), plus study abroad	You may apply online here This requires you to apply to the university, but if you apply for early action it is non-binding. The Hunt Leadership Scholars Program is designed to help develop future leaders for our communities and country and to help students prepare for social responsibility. If you are not selected for the Hunt Program, you will be considered for all other merit scholarships offered by the university. If you are interested in need based scholarships, be sure to fill out the FAFSA early in 2007.
Veterans of Foreign Wars - Voice of Democracy Contest	November 1, 2007 "Received By" due date at the local VFW post. See Miss Bogan for this contact person's information.	$30,000 scholarship and others from $1,000 - $16,000 plus a trip to Washington D.C.	2007-08 Theme: "My Role in Honoring America's Veterans" Click here to enter Requires a three to five minute original essay written, then recorded on audio cassette.
Tulane University New Orleans, LA	November 1, 2007	varies	Tulane University Early Action and Early Decision Deadline and consideration for general scholarships.
Toyota Community Scholars Scholarship for Students	November 2, 2007 ** This is a nomination scholarship and only one student will be chosen. By this date you must: (1) express interest to Miss Bogan by turning in a resume that includes your service activities completed application with a letter of recommendation from your employer to Miss Bogan no later than this date.	$10,000 to $20,000 over four years	criteria: Outstanding Academic record, effective leader, well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting. Academic performance is a prime factor in the selection process; however, please note that the distinguishing characteristic will be the overall impact of the student's contribution(s) in the area of community service.
Burger King Scholarship	November 15, 207** This is a nomination scholarship and only one student will be chosen. You must submit a completed application with a letter of recommendation from your employer to Miss Bogan no later than this date.	$1,000	This scholarship requires a letter of recommendation from your employer and you must be able to demonstrate need and that you must work part-time. Other criteria: 2.5 g.p.a. on a 4.0 scale; work part time on an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, good conduct and attitude in school and on the job; participation in community service and/or co-curricular activities; financial need; recommendations that are on the application form (you only need to obtain the employer recommendation because the school recommendation will be completed once the student is selected.; and you must plan to enroll in accredited school in the fall of 2008.
Ron Brown Scholars Program	November 15, 2007 It is importatnt to try to meet this deadline. You will also be considered for other scholarships sponsored by companies that work with the Ron Brown Program. If you wait until January 9th, you are only considered for the Ron Brown Program.	$10,000 per year for 4 years	African American students who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential and make an impact on their communities through service to others. If you fill out the application on or before November 15 you will be eligible for other scholarships for African American students. The final deadline for the Ron Brown Scholars program is in January.
Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, LA	November 15, 2007	varies	LSU General Scholarship Deadline This requires that you have a completed application. (You must have received confirmation by email that your application is complete.) This requires that you have sent in your application fee, transcript, and electronic version of your test scores from ACT or SAT.
Emory Scholars Program Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia	November 15, 2007 This is a nomination postmark deadline. Additional work to the applicaiton is required. If you are interested, see Miss Bogan early!	starts at 2/3 tuition and goes up to full tuition, room, board and fees	Up to four students from Mount Carmel Academy may be nominated for this award. You should have outstanding academic achievement, extraordinary personal qualities, and you must have made contributions to your class, school, and community. Please see Miss Bogan if you are interested. If you do not feel that you fit this criteria, please do consider applyig for other need-based financial aid at Emory University. You must fill out the CSS PROFILE and the FAFSA (you cannot fill out the FAFSA until 1/1/08). See Emory's admissions website for more information.
America's Homecoming Queen Leaders of Tomorrow Community Service & Educational Scholarship	November 15, 2007 If you were selected as homecoming queen on any court you are eligible. If you were selected as a maid on a court where the queen is not participating, you may submit an application. John Montgomery Belk Scholarship Davidson College, Davidson, North Carolina	November 15, 2007** This is a nomination scholarship and only one student may be nominated. If you are interested in Davidson, please see Miss Bogan as soon as possible.	full tuition plus two summer stipends to pursue enrichment opportunities	This program is designed to honor students who have proven intellectual and personal success and the potential to influence the classrooms, meeting rooms, hallways, studios, and playing fields throughout the Davidson community. Education is Freedom	Application period November 15, 2007 through January 31, 2008	$2,000 per year Renewable for three additional years.	Click here for information and how to apply. Eligibilty: U.S. resident for one year at the time of application, current H.S. senior, GPA of 3.0 to 3.5 (4.0 scale) & 1st time enrollment in a full time undergraduate course of study at a 2 or 4 year college or university. Selection Criteria: Financial need, activities & leadership, work history & candidate appraisal.
The Fulgham/Fulghum National Foundation Scholarship	Deadline is April 15, 2008 to submit your application; HOWEVER, you must have requested an application between September 1 and December 31, 2007 as referenced on the December due date.	$500 one award is made	Click here for more information and how to apply. The FFFNF scholarship program is open to any high school senior planning on earning a degree in teaching. The instructions are detailed on the website.
Federal Cyber Service: Scholarship for Service	None given	Grants fund the typical costs for tution, books, room & board while attending an approved university.
