It may not be October, but it is the Christmas season! And volunteering one's time is one of the most giving of gifts a person can give. Christmas in October began in 1988 as a one-day neighborhood revitalization pilot program to assist the needs of elderly and disabled homeowners who are unable to manage home repairs. On October 16 & 17, volunteers from Mount Carmel Academy and the Naval Reserve Professional Development Center worked together on a double in New Orleans. They came to scrape, paint, and make repairs. Their reward was the satisfaction of making a difference in someone's life in a very real way.
