GENERAL
INFORMATION—JULY, 2007 |
|
|
|
Book Day and Schedule Information will be mailed in a few weeks. This will be the schedule with the order of
the student’s classes listed. You have
already received the schedule of subjects in which your daughter is enrolled
so that you can place your order with the MBS Virtual Bookstore. MBS has informed us that fall semester
information will be posted on July 16. |
|
|
|
Calendar for August is enclosed which will give you information about
the beginning of school and the activities for students and parents. Please make a note of the events which
involve you and your daughter. We hope
that the calendar is final, but as I have said before, since God did not
write the calendar, it certainly is subject to change. |

Progress Report—We are working to get the school in good order for the girls when they
return. We have a lot left to do and
ask for your prayers so that we can get things accomplished. Each time I walk around the school I see
something else that needs to be fixed or patched so that the school will be
as beautiful, finished looking and as clean as it was before Katrina. It is taking longer than I expected. |
|
|
|
I am also thinking of so
many things pertaining to the beginning of school; however, I will address
these things in a general information which will be
sent closer to the beginning. It is
too easy to put the notice aside because school is over a month away! |
|
|
|
Reminder to students attending summer school—Please be sure to do your best so that you can
improve your grade point average for TOPS purposes. It is definitely to your advantage and
certainly to your parents’ advantage for you to do so. |

Advanced Placement Courses—I am so very proud of our teachers and our
curriculum and certainly of our students.
This year the Advanced Placement program sponsored by the College Board
required each teacher of an AP course to submit a syllabus for an audit. Only if the syllabus passed a critical
review by the College Board would we be allowed to teach the course with the
Advanced Placement designation and put the AP designation on our students’
transcripts. I congratulate our
teachers because each course was reviewed only once and was accepted as
meeting the AP standards. Many schools
had their syllabi returned for revision.
The teachers using our curriculum were as follows: Mr. Brian Cosse,
Calculus; Mrs. Melissa Gaye, English Literature and Composition; Mr. Vlastic Svab, English V; Mrs.
Gloria Doran, American History; Ms. Victoria McCardel,
American Government. The commendation
read: “The College Board applauds and
recognizes your efforts to provide your students with the academic rigor and
college-level experience that is the promise of AP. I thank you for the time and effort you put
into participating in the AP Course Audit.” |

Let us pray for one
another. Thank you again for your
loyal support of our school. |
