Cross Country meets Mother Nature

The first local Meet of the season was the Dominican Invitational on Sept. 13.  The weather was overcast with light to moderate rain.  Aside from some brief delays, all was going smoothly as the final race began.  Not a single hint of thunder had been heard throughout the morning.  As the last race commenced, the rain had passed and all looked well.  But just as the runners were entering their 2nd mile, a bolt from the blue struck a tree some 20 yards from the course.  Thankfully, no one was injured, except the tree.

Cubs are mesmerized by nature's rain.

Perhaps a foreboding of things to come.
