One game into the district season, the Mount Carmel soccer team is sporting an impressive 21-3 overall record, riding a nine-game winning streak, and brimming with confidence as they seek a ninth consecutive district title. Head Coach Pavlos Petrou likes what he sees. "As their coach I am very proud of our team, because of their commitment, focus and the way they play. They play hard every minute. They are relentless."
Returning District 10-5A Offensive Player of the Year Alana Divittorio paces the team, with 22 goals as of January 18. Four other Cubs are at or near double digits in the scoring column-Margaux Fontana, Jessica Leslie, Brittany Perrier and Caitlin Robert.

Defensively, the Cubs have allowed only 11 goals in 24 games behind the strong goalie play of junior Abby Massengale and sophomore Maddie Power. Defensive play all around has been solid, according to Petrou, despite the loss of senior co-captain and 2009 District 10-5A defensive MVP Michelle Saucier to a season ending knee injury.
