As always, arch rival Dominican will provide a tough test both in district and potentially down the road at state.  The Cubs' first district match against Dominican is Wednesday, January 20, at 5:00 p.m. at Pan-American Stadium in City Park.  The two squads meet again a week later, also at 5:00 p.m. at Pan-Am.  "We'd really like to see a good crowd at both of those games," says Petrou. "Playing in front of family and friends really gets the girls fired up."


 

Other threats at the state level include perennial northshore powers Fontainebleau and Mandeville, as well as some solid teams from the Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport areas.

For now, the Cubs are taking one game at a time.  "We approach every game like is the most important game of the season and we try not to look too far ahead," says Petrou.
