On April 10th in a late season match up with district title implications on the line, the Cubs defeated cross-town rival Dominican by a score of 4 to 2. The Cubs scored first with an RBI single in the top of the 3rd inning. Dominican scored one in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at one a piece. The Cub offense responded quickly by scoring three more runs in the 4th inning, going ahead 4-1.
Mount Carmel's defense did an excellent job of heading off several potential rallies for Dominican. Dominican managed to put one across in the 6th inning, but the Cubs held on in the 7th to secure their fifth district win of the season as well as a school record 23rd overall win.
Sports Update: On Monday, April 14, Mount Carmel defeated Chapelle 5-2 in extra innings! That game placed the Cubs and Chips in a tie for 1st. The two clubs squared off again on Tuesday, April 15 to decide the District title.
