Queens of the Court

Under the direction of new head coach, Colleen Clarke, the tennis team enjoyed a successful season, capturing district and regional team championships before capping their season with a 3rd-place finish at the state tournament in Baton Rouge.  Contributing to this team effort were some veteran players- Katie Hamlin, Elaine Holtzman, Holly Landrieu, Ashley Moise, and Elizabeth Sammons and a talented group of newcomers- Ashley Adams, Meghan de Baroncelli, Julia Guidry, Sarah Fox, Annie Lavie, Meg Skansi, Molly Nolan, and Kelly Vogel.

Due to their strong team performance in regional play, the Cubs were able to send a six-person contingent to state.  There, MCA's #1 doubles team of senior Elizabeth Sammons and 8th-grader Meghan de Baroncelli became only the fourth duo in MCA history to advance all the way to the finals.  Along the way, they upset the tournament's top seed from Mandeville in a three-hour semifinal marathon, before succumbing to Lafayette in the finals.  The Cubs also notched a point at the #2 doubles position, when Annie Lavie and Katie Hamlin advanced to the second round.  Ashley Moise and Meg Skansi competed in the singles bracket for the Cubs.
