You gotta have Rhythm

They've got rhythm, yes they do!  They've got rhythm; how about you?  Mount Carmel's Rhythm dance team is definitely a good candidate for topic of the week.  Recently, over the Thanksgiving holidays, Captain Gabby Olivier, along with Co-Captains Rachel Hutchinson, Lyndi Relle, and Mary Schindler, were given the honor of marching with the Universal Dance Association Cheerleaders in New York City at Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.  Their performance aired with parade coverage on national television.  The captains agreed that it was an awesome experience and wish only to go back.

Rhythm members have also been busy constructing, perfecting, and polishing dances for upcoming 2005 competitions.  Prepared are a jazz routine set to "Dolphins Cry," a pom dance set to "Proud Mary," and a novelty number set to a country western mix.  Olivier says, "We are really looking forward to competition.  The team is really amazing and we have a really hardworking group of girls this year."

Schindler adds, "We have put in a lot of time making up these dances.  The team is working really hard and they look great already.  Rhythm has a great group of talented girls this year and we keep looking better everyday.  I hope that the team keeps working hard, and I also hope that everyone has a great and fun year."

With this attitude, the dancers are not far from last year's success at the Marching Auxiliaries, where they achieved honors for "Best in Class," "Winner Circle Cup," "Super Sweepstakes," "Outstanding Choreography," and "Outstanding Technique."  They also placed fourth at dance camp this summer.

When asked what her wishes are for her team, Moderator Mrs. Amy Guidry says, "My hopes for the team are that they work hard and have fun, unify as a team, and be successful in their competition season."

In the end, no matter what awards they aspire to attain, Rhythm is sure to be credited with hard work and dedication.
