Mu Alpha Theta is an honorary math club the purposes of which are to stimulate interest in mathematics, to serve the school by offering tutoring to students, and to encourage competition at the city, district, and state levels. Membership is by invitation. A student will be invited only once to join Mu Alpha Theta. If she does not accept the invitation after qualifying for membership, she will not receive a second invitation.
Requirements for admission:
- overall 3.75 GPA
- completion of Algebra I and Geometry with an A final grade in regular classes, or an A or B in honors classes
In order to remain a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the student must maintain a quarterly GPA of 3.75, a minimum "B" average in all mathematics courses each quarter, attend club mettings, participate in activities as outlined in the constitution and perform eight hours of tutoring per year.
