The National Honor Society of Secondary Schools (NHS) has as its purpose the creation of enthusiasm for scholarship, the stimulation of a desire to render service, the promotion of leadership, and the development of character in the students of secondary schools.
Invitations to membership in the National Honor Society are open to sophomores and juniors who meet the following requirements: Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.75, at least two honors-level courses, and be in good standing in extra-curricular activities.
Satisfaction of the minimum requirements does not automatically ensure a student of membership in the National Honor Society. Students who earn the required GPA but do not exhibit leadership and character qualities as described in the NHS handbook will not be admitted to the National Honor Society. The final decisions for eligibility are made by the Principal in consultation with the Administrative Council.
